Niagara Falls: Mind. Blown.

Niagara Falls is just…wow. Pictures don’t do it justice. Seeing millions of gallons of water crashing down every minute is insane. My family and I took a boat ride on the Maid of the Mist, and getting up close and personal with the falls was a highlight.

The mist on your face? So refreshing! Beyond the falls, there are cute shops, yummy restaurants, and tons of family-friendly things to do. Don’t miss the Konica Minolta Tower – the view from 500 feet up is incredible. Pro tip: go at night when the falls are lit up. It’s seriously magical.

Lake George: Hello, Relaxation!

Lake George is the perfect spot to unwind and recharge with the fam. The water is crystal clear, the scenery is gorgeous – it’s like stepping into a postcard. We loved exploring the little village, checking out the shops and restaurants.

It’s got its own unique vibe. We rented a boat, went parasailing (so fun!), and even had a picnic on the beach. If you’re going in the summer, Six Flags Great Escape and its indoor water park are a must-do. Adventure and chill time all in one!

Cooperstown: Baseball Heaven (and More!)

Okay, sports fans, listen up! Cooperstown is a dream. The Baseball Hall of Fame is packed with history and memorabilia – a baseball lover’s paradise. Catching a game at Doubleday Field is a must – it’s a classic ballpark with such a cool atmosphere. Even if you’re not a huge baseball fan, Cooperstown is charming. Think cute shops, beautiful scenery, and that small-town feel.

New York State Fair: Food, Fun, and Everything in Between

New York State Fair

The Great New York State Fair is a family tradition for us. It happens every year from late August to early September, and it’s a blast. Think live music, crazy good food, rides, and even animal exhibits. Seriously, something for everyone. Personally, I’m all about the food stalls. Deep-fried Oreos? Local wine and cheese? Yes, please! If you’re in New York during the fair, you HAVE to go.

Museum Hopping: Get Your Learn On!

Museum Hopping

Museums are like portals to different worlds, and New York has so many amazing ones! The New York State Museum in Albany is a favorite – it has everything from Adirondack wilderness exhibits to 9/11 history. The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester is another gem. It’s super interactive and perfect for kids (and, let’s be honest, adults, too!).

State Parks: Nature Lovers, Rejoice!

Green Lakes State Park

My family loves the outdoors, and New York’s state parks are amazing. There are over 160 of them, so you’re spoiled for choice! We love Niagara Falls State Park (those views!) and Green Lakes State Park, which has this crazy green water and easy hiking trails. Pack a picnic, grab a blanket, and enjoy the fresh air.

Fishing Fun: Gone Fishin’

My son is a big fishing fan, and New York has some awesome fishing spots. Cayuga Lake and the St. Lawrence River are two of our favorites. They’re stocked with bass, trout, and northern pike. There’s nothing like the quiet time spent fishing and sharing stories with my son.

Zoos and Aquariums: Animal Adventures!

If you have kids, the zoos and aquariums in New York are a must-see. The Utica Zoo and the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse are perfect for a day trip. They’re smaller zoos, which makes them great for little ones. And don’t forget the aquariums – they’re just as fun and educational.
